One of the inherent features of sculptural installations is that it joins an object with place and time. It creates an environment in which we participate and interact with our own bodies and senses. We are limited by the set of coordinates in place and time but not by the structural dataset of illusionism. What I mean is: the plasticity of the arts is defined by temporal qualities (i.e. size, shape, weight, duration, luminosity) and held within the borders of these confines.

Video games and virtual realities are comprehensible by maintaining an illusion of temporality, but in real life we could get hit by a bus at the intersection of time and place.

AI is pushing these boundaries, but so far humans are the only creatures possessed of “free will.” Or, if you believe in God: destiny. You can believe what you want.

The infinite images of the carousel and the words on the page move us though time. The precarious symbols throw the middle finger at gravity and push us away from the object just to see it. The light source needed to see the images of the object are the object itself. Infinite, weightless, formless. Move toward it, back away, pass through it, go around. The very nature of the work in this installation requires our presence.
