Design: Art Direction: Publishing

The Holyland Church of Sacred Retardation was an interdisciplinary artist collaborative by Ralph Eaton and Brett Waller in Los Angeles from 1987-1992. The Holyland Pin-Up girl calendar was a project conceived as a statement to “cross” the barriers of advertising and religious iconography, inspired by the soft-porn yet pragmatic concept of blue-collar workplace efficiency. We put an Ad in the Hollywood trade journals calling for aspiring models and actresses to participate under the pretense of an art performance piece. In actuality, it was simply a ruse for a couple of hillbillies in Hollywood to meet “supermodels”.

It was the first publication by Pontiac Press in 2024.
